I’ve always believed that there was a need for better waxing techniques, especially in the area of intimate waxing. I have over 15 years experience and, having trained extensively with leading waxers in the UK and The United States, I believe I have developed my techniques to be as quick and painless as possible. I use world renowned top quality waxes and only use Hot wax (non-strip) for all intimate waxing. My technique is virtually pain-free and generations apart from a regular wax. Im proud that my client base travel far and wide for their appointments. Once you’ve experienced your perfect wax you’ll never use a razor again!

IPL Laser Hair RemovalIPL Permanent Hair Reduction and Red vein removal

Laser hair reduction allows you to say goodbye to messy waxing and daily shaving. Here at Fuss we have the Award winning Lynton Lumina which offers a long-term solution to unwanted or excess hair for both men and women and is suitable for most areas of the face and body.

It effectively treats excessive hair growth so you can rest assured that you will receive the most suitable treatment for you and your hair type. Laser hair reduction offers a long-term solution to unwanted or excess hair for both men and women and is suitable for most areas of the face and body.

IPL Laser Hair RemovalA course of laser treatments is usually required at 4 - 8 weekly intervals to follow the hair growth cycle. Treatment will leave your skin feeling smooth and soft and free from painful ingrowing hairs. IPL uses a broad spectrum light in such a way as to inhibit re-growth for as long as possible and works by the light energy being attracted to, and absorbed by, melanin, the pigment which is present in most hair except that which is blonde, white or grey. The amount of melanin present will determine the success of the treatment. Melanin is most concentrated during the active growth phase.

Evidence has shown that whilst most actively growing hairs will be destroyed some hairs treated will grow back slowly and appear much finer in texture.

These hairs will need further treatment. Hairs not in the active growing phase will not be affected and will need treatment in the future when they enter their active growing stage. Hence the need for a course of treatments over a period of time.

As IPL relies on the absorption of light by the melanin contained in the hair in preference to absorption by melanin in the skin it is therefore essential that the hair is darker than the skin for preferential absorption to occur. For this reason very dark skins, such as Afro-Caribbean, cannot be treated with IPL. The best results will normally be seen for clients with dark hair and fair skin.

Common IPL Questions

How does it work?
Light is absorbed by the melanin (the pigment in the hair follicle). The light energy heats the pigment and effectively destroys the cells in the hair follicle which are responsible for hair growth, without damaging the surrounding cell. The laser or IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is placed on the skin and a short pulse of light is released, which targets many follicles simultaneously. The applicator is then moved to the neighbouring area of the skin and the process is repeated until the entire area is covered. For IPL treatments, a thin layer of gel is applied to the skin to help guide the light.

Am I suitable for treatment?
Most people are suitable for treatment. Best results are seen with people who have lighter skin and darker hair. Dark hair is more easily treated as it has a high concentration of melanin. Fair hair however contains less melanin so is harder to treat. Grey/white hair has no melanin so is not suitable for treatment.

How does the treatment feel?
Treatment sensation varies but is often described as a ‘flick of an elastic band’. No anaesthetic is required and most clients describe the discomforts as moderate and tolerable.

What will I see after treatment?
The hair follicles are damaged by the heat but the hairs remain in the follicles. The dead hairs shed after 1 to 3 weeks as the epidermis renews. During this period the hairs will seem to grow as they are pushed out by the new epidermis.

Are there any side effects?
The skin may be red immediately after treatment and the hair follicles may be swollen and raised but this usually subsides within a few hours. Adverse reactions are rare but may include a small blister or temporary lightening or darkening of the skin.

How many treatments are necessary?
Only hair that is actively growing is affected, therefore multiple treatments are needed. Treatments are conducted every 4 to 8 weeks depending on the area being treated, until a good result is seen. The number of treatments varies, although typically 6 treatments or more are needed for optimum results.

After treatment Advice
Avoid sun exposure or tanning after straight after treatment.
Avoid waxing, plucking or use of chemical hair removal products.
Avoid using any acids such as glycolic acids or retinoids.
Wear sun cream on the treated area when exposing to the sun.

For all waxing hair should ideally have 3 - 4 weeks growth for longest lasting results. If you are a first time waxer or haven’t been waxed in a while you may want to trim the hair (using clippers or scissors) to around half an inch, this will make waxing more comfortable.

For your waxing please remember you are with a professional with many years experience. You will not be the hairiest person I’ve seen - neither is your bum the biggest! Any discomfort you experience will be minimal and over in seconds For extreme waxing (Brazilian and Hollywood) you will need to get naked from the waist down, but your modesty will be protected as much as possible.

Gents – this is purely a professional service with no extras so please don’t embarass yourself by asking.

Avoid applying heat to the waxed area for 12 to 24 hours.
This includes really hot baths, sauna, and steam. Also avoid pools, hot tubs.

Avoid sun tanning for 12 to 24 hours.
This includes any strong ultraviolet (UV) light exposure or tanning bed treatments.

Avoid applying highly fragrant products to the waxed area.
This includes perfume, scented body lotions, antiperspirants, tanning accelerators, cosmetics or feminine hygiene sprays.

Only use professional after-care products
Recommended to you by me.

Avoid applying high SPF sunblocks to the waxed area for 12-24 hours after the waxing service.
Sunscreen chemicals can be irritating to the newly waxed skin. This includes self-tanning products and tan accelerators. Any pinking of the skin should disappear within 6 to 8 hours after the waxing treatment. Slight pinking is normal, and indicates that the hair was removed from the root rather than superficially broken off, as it would be in shaving. This is the reason that professional waxing lasts so much longer.

For best results
Repeat your professional waxing every 4 to 6 weeks depending on the area and your individual hair growth rate. It's best to wax consistently, at the same time interval. This trains the growth cycle and gives you the best results. Most issues get better after your skin and hair follicles get used to being waxed... consistency is the key!
